LEXAN™ 4701R Polyphthalate Carbonate Resin is a High Heat Copolymer material engineered for applications requiring Exceptional Thermal Resistance, Structural Stability, and High Viscosity Processing Performance. This Opaque Grade is designed for components that must maintain Integrity under both Elevated Temperature and Mechanical Load.
When Parts are subjected to Continuous Stress at High Temperatures, maintaining Geometry becomes Critical. This Grade offers a High Deflection Temperature under Load (DTUL) of approximately 300°F at 264 Psi, allowing components to Resist deformation and maintain Structural Precision, supporting reliable performance in Heat-Intensive applications.
A Defining Characteristic of LEXAN™ 4701R Polyphthalate Carbonate Resin is its High Viscosity Nature, which provides Better Melt Strength during Processing. This makes it particularly suitable for applications requiring Thicker Sections, Structural Rigidity, or controlled Flow Behavior, where maintaining Shape during Molding is Essential.
Compared to Higher-Flow Polycarbonate Grades, this material Emphasizes Mechanical Stability over Flow Speed, allowing Designers to achieve Stronger, more robust Parts. This supports applications where Strength, Load Retention, and Thermal Resistance are more critical than Rapid Filling.
The material also maintains Strong Dimensional Stability, ensuring consistent Part Geometry during Production and Service. This is Essential in applications where Tight Tolerances and Structural reliability must be preserved under Thermal Load.
From a Processing Standpoint, the Resin supports stable Molding behavior with controlled Flow Characteristics. This enables Better Control over Part Formation, Contributing to improved Manufacturing Consistency and Part Integrity, particularly in Structural Components.
LEXAN™ 4701R Polyphthalate Carbonate Resin is classified as Non UL Rated, making it suitable for applications where Flame Retardancy is not required but High Heat performance is Essential. In addition, it is RoHS Compliant, aligning with Global Environmental Standards.
In practical use, this Grade is well suited for High Temperature Structural Components, Electrical Housings, Industrial Parts, and Thick-Wall applications where Resistance to deformation under Load is Critical.
