LEXAN™ CXT17 Transparent Polycarbonate Resin. Copolymer High Heat

Transparent Clear with Vicat Softening Temperature of 170° Celsius

LEXAN™ CXT17 Polycarbonate Resin is a Copolymer High-Temperature Polycarbonate developed for Optical Applications where Clarity and Thermal Stability must be maintained together. As part of the LEXAN™ CXT series, this material combines Crystal Clear Transparency with elevated heat resistance, enabling reliable performance in precision components exposed to demanding processing and service conditions.

A defining aspect of this grade is its Optical Performance. The material offers high transparency across the UV‑Visible Spectrum while maintaining low color shift during processing. This ensures consistent light transmission with minimal yellowing, making it suitable for lenses, sensors, and applications requiring accurate light detection.

Thermal capability is a key strength. With Vicat B120 Softening Temperatures reaching approximately 190 °C and Glass Transition Temperatures up to 195 °C, LEXAN™ CXT17 Polycarbonate Resin supports use in high-temperature assembly processes. Components can withstand demanding operations such as cold reflow or wave soldering onto printed circuit boards, as well as prolonged exposure to elevated service conditions.

Processing performance is designed for flexibility and consistency. A broad processing window enables stable molding across varying conditions while preserving clarity and dimensional accuracy. Good flow behavior also supports the production of small, intricate geometries required in advanced optical designs.

Another important property is its high refractive index, exceeding 1.6, combined with transparency greater than 89% in the visible and infrared range at standard thickness. This allows the development of compact optical components, such as micro-lenses used in mobile devices and sensing systems, where precision and light efficiency are critical.

In practical applications, the material performs well in environments requiring both Optical Quality and Heat Resistance. Typical uses include lenses, light detection components, and healthcare devices such as over‑molded face shields, where clarity must be maintained even during high-temperature processing.

Available in limited Transparent Clear grades, LEXAN™ CXT17 Polycarbonate Resin supports designs requiring high Optical Performance combined with Mechanical and Thermal Reliability. The material is also RoHS Compliant, supporting Environmentally Responsible Material Selection while delivering consistent Optical and Processing Performance.
