LEXAN™ FST3403T Transparent Copolymer Polycarbonate Resin. High Flow

Non-Brominated Non-Chlorinated Flame Resistance for Rail Applications

LEXAN™ FST3403T Polycarbonate Resin is a Transparent Polycarbonate Copolymer developed for applications requiring a combination of Flame, Smoke, and Toxicity (FST) Compliance, Optical Clarity, and High-Flow Processability. This material is specifically engineered for Transportation Environments where both Safety performance and Visibility are Essential.

In Rail Interior applications, material selection must address Strict Fire Safety Standards while maintaining Functionality in Passenger-Facing Components. This Grade meets Key International Requirements, including EN45545 R6 HL3, DIN 5510-2, NFPA 130, and PN-K-02511, ensuring controlled Flame Spread, reduced Smoke Generation, and Low Toxicity. Its formulation is Based on a Non-Brominated, Non-Chlorinated Flame Retardant System, aligning with Modern Environmental and Regulatory Expectations.

From a Processing Perspective, the material is designed with High Flow Characteristics, allowing efficient Filling of Complex Geometries and Thin-Wall Designs. This makes it particularly suitable for Injection Molding applications where Consistency, Detail Replication, and Production Efficiency are Critical. The stable Flow behavior also contributes to improved Cycle time and reliable Output in High-Volume Manufacturing.

The Transparent Nature of this Resin enables Clear Visibility and Light Transmission, supporting applications such as Covers, Panels, and Lighting-Related Components. Unlike Conventional Transparent Materials, it maintains its Optical performance while Meeting Rigorous FST Requirements, enabling Designers to Integrate both Safety and Visibility into a Single material Solution.

In Terms of Mechanical Behavior, the material offers good Impact Resistance and Structural Stability, allowing it to perform reliably under Operational Stress in Transportation Environments. It also maintains Dimensional Consistency after Molding, supporting Precise Fit and alignment in Assembled Systems.

Rather than being optimized for standard UL94 Classifications, this Grade is specifically Tailored for Transportation Fire Safety Standards, making it more suitable for Rail and Mass Transit applications where FST requirements Take Priority over Vertical Burn Ratings.

Overall, LEXAN™ FST3403T Polycarbonate Resin provides a balanced Solution for Transparent, Safety-Critical Components, combining Fire Performance, Manufacturability, and Optical Functionality.
