LEXAN™ HFD4472 Unique Transparent Clear Polycarbonate Copolymer Resin

20% Glass Reinforced. Low Temperature -20 °C Ductility. Medium Flow

LEXAN™ HFD4472 Polycarbonate Resin is a Transparent Polycarbonate Copolymer Reinforced with 20% Glass Fiber and Modified for improved Impact Performance, developed to provide a Stronger balance between Structural Rigidity and Toughness under demanding Conditions. This Non-Flame Retardant Grade is Intended for applications where Higher Load Capacity and enhanced Durability must be achieved without Sacrificing Processing Stability.

When components are exposed to combined Mechanical Stress and Impact Loading, the material Benefits from its Dual Design—Glass Reinforcement contributes to increased Stiffness and Dimensional Control, while the Impact-Modified formulation Improves Resistance to Crack Initiation and Propagation. This combination allows Parts to maintain Integrity even under Challenging Service Conditions.

Processing behavior is defined by its Medium Flow Profile, which offers controlled Mold Filling compared to High-Flow Variants. This enables Better Handling of Part Geometry, especially in Designs where Precision, reduced Flow Defects, and Dimensional Accuracy are Important. The balance between Flow and Viscosity helps Ensure consistent Molding results across Production Cycles.

Cold Environment performance is Elevated for this Class of Reinforced Materials, with Ductility maintained Down to -20°C. This allows components to remain Functional and resistant to Brittle Failure in Colder Operating Conditions, Expanding the Usable Temperature range for Structural applications.

Despite the Relatively High Glass Content, the Copolymer retains a Level of Transparency, making it suitable for Parts where Visual Access and Structural Strength must be Combined. This allows Engineers to Design components that benefit from both Visibility and enhanced Mechanical Performance.

Mechanically, the formulation provides a Well-Integrated combination of High Stiffness, improved Impact Resistance, and stable Dimensional Behavior, ensuring consistent performance over time. Parts maintain their Geometry under Load, supporting accurate Assembly and Long-Term Reliability.

For Flame Classification, LEXAN™ HFD4472 Polycarbonate Resin Achieves UL94 HB Rating from 0.40 mm to 3.00 mm Thickness, making it suitable for applications where Basic Flame performance is Adequate without the need for Flame-Retardant Additives.

The Resin is also RoHS Compliant, supporting alignment with Global Environmental and Regulatory Standards.

This Grade is commonly used in Reinforced Transparent Housings, Structural Components, Industrial Covers, and Impact-Loaded Parts where Higher Stiffness, improved Toughness, and controlled Processing behavior are required.
