LEXAN™ HPF1 Polycarbonate Resin. Biocompatible Healthcare

LEXAN™ HPF1 Polycarbonate Resin is an Opaque Polycarbonate Copolymer developed within the EXL Portfolio for Healthcare applications requiring Biocompatibility, Sterilization Resistance, and controlled High-Flow Processing. This Grade is designed to support Medical Device Manufacturing where Regulatory Compliance, Durability, and consistent performance are Essential.

In Regulated Healthcare Environments, Materials must meet Stringent Biological Safety Standards while maintaining Predictable Mechanical Behavior. This Grade is designed to Comply with ISO 10993 and USP Class VI Requirements, ensuring suitability for applications that Involve Direct or Indirect Patient Contact. Such Compliance enables its use in critical Medical components where material Safety and Long-Term reliability are Non-Negotiable.

From a Processing Standpoint, the Resin offers a Medium to High Flow Profile, providing a balance between efficient Mold Filling and Dimensional Control. This allows for consistent Production of Detailed or Moderately Complex Parts while maintaining stable Molding Conditions. manufacturers benefit from reliable Part Replication and improved Cycle Consistency, particularly in High-Volume Healthcare Production.

The material is Compatible with Common Sterilization Processes, including Autoclave and Ethylene Oxide (Eto) Methods. This ensures that components can withstand repeated Sterilization Cycles without Significant Degradation, supporting Reuse, Hygiene Requirements, and Extended Service Life in Medical Environments.

In addition to Sterilization Capability, the Resin maintains Low Temperature Ductility, enabling Parts to retain flexibility and Resist Cracking under varying Storage and Handling Conditions. This contributes to consistent performance across different Stages of the Product Lifecycle, from Manufacturing to End use.

Unlike Flame-Retardant Grades, this formulation focuses on Biocompatibility and Process reliability rather than Fire Performance, Reflecting the Priorities of Healthcare applications over Electrical or Industrial Requirements.

The Grade is also RoHS Compliant, supporting alignment with Global Environmental and Regulatory Standards.

Typical uses include Medical Device Housings, Diagnostic Equipment, Fluid Management Components, and Reusable Healthcare Products where a combination of Biocompatibility, Sterilization Resistance, and Processing Efficiency is required.
