LEXAN™ 101 Polycarbonate Resin is a Transparent Polycarbonate Grade designed for General-Purpose applications requiring High Melt Strength, Optical Clarity, and Versatile Processing Capability. This material is well suited for both Injection Molding and Extrusion, providing a Dependable balance of Mechanical performance and Manufacturing flexibility across a Broad range of Industries.
A Distinguishing Characteristic of this Grade is its High Viscosity, Low Flow Profile, which provides enhanced Melt Strength during Processing. This makes it particularly suitable for applications Involving Thicker Wall Sections, Structural Components, and Extrusion Profiles, where maintaining Dimensional Stability and Shape Control is Critical. The controlled Flow behavior also supports consistent Part Formation and reliable Processing Performance.
The Transparent formulation delivers excellent Clarity and Light Transmission, enabling its use in applications where Visibility, Aesthetics, or Optical performance are important Design Considerations. Components Produced with this Grade can achieve a clean appearance while benefiting from the Inherent Toughness Associated with Polycarbonate Materials.
From a Mechanical Perspective, the Resin offers good Impact Resistance and Structural Durability, helping Parts withstand repeated Handling and Service Loads. Its balanced Property Profile allows components to maintain performance over time while supporting accurate Assembly and Dimensional Consistency.
The Versatility of LEXAN™ 101 Polycarbonate Resin makes it suitable for both Injection-Molded and Extruded Products, providing Designers with greater Freedom when Selecting Manufacturing Methods. This flexibility enables the material to be used across a Wide Variety of applications without Sacrificing performance or Process Reliability.
For Flame Classification, LEXAN™ 101 Polycarbonate Resin Achieves UL94 HB rating from 0.70 mm to 3.00 mm Thickness, making it suitable for applications where Basic Flame performance is Sufficient.
The Resin is also RoHS Compliant, supporting alignment with Global Environmental and Regulatory Standards.
Common applications include Extruded Profiles, Transparent Housings, Lighting Components, Machine Guards, Protective Covers, and General Industrial Parts where Clarity, Toughness, and Processing Versatility are required.
