For Injection Molding or Extrusion with It's Unique High Viscosity
LEXAN™ 131 Polycarbonate Resin is a Transparent Polycarbonate Grade engineered for applications requiring Maximum Melt Strength, Exceptional Dimensional Control, and Versatile Processing through both Extrusion and Injection Molding. This material features an Extreme Low-Flow, High-Viscosity Profile, making it particularly suitable for Designs where Stability during Processing is more critical than Rapid Mold Filling.
Unlike General-Purpose Molding Grades, this Resin is optimized for applications that benefit from enhanced Melt Strength and Shape Retention. The Extreme Low-Flow characteristics provide greater Control during Processing, helping to maintain Dimensional Accuracy in Thicker Sections, Extruded Profiles, and Structural Components. This makes the material especially valuable in applications where Part Geometry must remain consistent throughout Production.
The Transparent formulation offers excellent Optical Clarity and Light Transmission, allowing components to achieve a clean appearance while maintaining the Inherent Toughness Associated with Polycarbonate Materials. This combination of Visibility and Strength supports both Functional and Aesthetic Design Requirements.
Its High-Viscosity Nature also contributes to improved performance in Extrusion Operations, where maintaining Profile Stability and minimizing deformation are Important. At the same time, the Resin remains suitable for Injection Molding applications that require Structural Integrity, Durability, and controlled Processing Behavior.
Mechanically, the material provides good Impact Resistance and Long-Term Dimensional Stability, enabling Parts to withstand Handling, Assembly, and Everyday Service Conditions. Components retain their Shape and performance over extended use, supporting reliable Operation across a Broad range of Industrial and Commercial applications.
From a Flame performance Perspective, LEXAN™ 131 Polycarbonate Resin Achieves UL94 HB Classification from 0.75 mm to 3.00 mm Thickness, making it suitable for applications where Basic Flame performance is Sufficient.
The formulation is also RoHS Compliant, supporting alignment with Global Environmental and Regulatory Standards.
Typical applications include Extruded Profiles, Machine Guards, Transparent Housings, Protective Covers, Lighting Components, and Structural Clear Parts where High Melt Strength, Processing Control, Optical Clarity, and Impact Resistance are required.
